Discovery week 11

Making shapes out of marshmallows and toothpicks to link  in with Junior Hub 1's measurement-Shape strand. Alexie even created a 3D pyramid.
Last week we dyed pasta and this week we worked on our fine motor skills to thread them on to fish gut wire. We also created patterns with the three different colours, this station took lots of perserverence.

Nico creating shape art  with some 2D foam shapes.
We have also been looking at Volume and floating and sinking linked to a big book we have been reading. Here's a group of children having some great discussions about why things float and sink based on weight and shape rather than size.

Here's a group creating 3D shapes out of nets.

A Group made playdough and then used the cookie cutters to create shapes and compare sizes, lengths, widths and shapes.

Another group of children were making Milos by measuring and looking at different volumes. Yum yum.
